As a non-denominational church, we unite people from all kinds of church backgrounds. This is a great strength of our church, but can also pose somewhat of a challenge: what are the essentials that everyone must believe? Faithful, Bible-believing Christians can disagree over dozens of issues. Below you'll find what we believe are the essentials of the Christian faith, agreed upon unanimously throughout 2,000 years of church history. Our approach is pretty simple: "If you can agree with these basics then we can work together. If you can't, then it's probably best that you continue your spiritual journey at another church." While people may disagree upon finer points of theology, we think every Christian can and should agree on the following:

THE BIBLE
We believe that the Bible is the inspired word of God. It is the supreme source of truth for Christian beliefs and living, and the final authority for all matters of faith. (Psalm 119:105; 2 Timothy 3:16; 2 Peter 1:19-21)

GOD
We believe that there is one true God, the creator and ruler of the universe, who eternally exists in three persons: Father, Son and Holy Spirit. (Genesis 1:26-27; Psalm 90:2; Matthew 28:19; John 1:1, 14; John 14:26; 1 Peter 1:2; 2 Corinthians 13:14)

JESUS CHRIST
We believe that Jesus Christ is the one and only Son of God, who died for our sins and arose from the dead. (John 3:16; 1 Corinthians 15:1-8; Hebrews 4:14-15; Acts 1:9-11; Titus 2:13)

THE HOLY SPIRIT
We believe that the Holy Spirit is at work in the world to make people aware of their need for Jesus Christ, and lives in every person from the moment of salvation. (2 Corinthians 3:17; John 16:7-13; 14:16-17; 1 Corinthians 2:12; 3:16; Ephesians 1:13; 5:18)

SIN
We believe that every person has worth as a creation of God, but that all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God. (Romans 3:23; 1 John 1:7; Acts 4:12)

SALVATION
We believe that forgiveness and the promise of eternal life are available to those who trust Christ as their Savior and Lord. Faith, repentance, public confession, and baptism by immersion are directly linked to the forgiveness of sins and the gift of the Holy Spirit. (Matthew 28:19; John 3:16, 23; Acts 2:38, 8:38, 22:16; Romans 5:8-11; 6:1-14; Galatians 3:27; Ephesians 2:8-9; Colossians 2:12)

THE CHURCH
We believe that the church is the body of Christ on earth, empowered by the Holy Spirit, and exists to love people into a relationship with Jesus Christ and develop them into maturity in Him. (Ephesians 4:1-16)

THE SECOND COMING
We believe that Jesus Christ will one day return to earth and reign forever. (1 Thessalonians 4:13-18)

HUMAN DESTINY
We believe that everyone will live forever after they die. Where one spends eternity will depend on what he/she does with Jesus Christ. For all humankind there will be a resurrection into the spiritual world and a judgment that will determine the fate of each individual. Because unbelievers have rejected Jesus, they will be separated from His presence for all eternity in hell. Believers will be received into heaven to be with God for all eternity. (John 3:36; Revelation 20-22)

THE LORD'S SUPPER
We believe that the Lord's Supper or Communion should be practiced weekly, according to the example of the New Testament church. The purpose is three-fold: to remind the church of Jesus' sacrifice, to proclaim Christ's death until He comes, and to promote honest self-examination within the church. (Acts 2:46; 20:7; 1 Corinthians 11:23-34)

CHURCH GOVERNMENT
Sunday Church is a non-denominational Christian church that is led by leaders from within its own congregation, not an outside denominational office or headquarters. Sunday Church is loosely associated with a fellowship of over 5,800 similar evangelical churches nationwide called, "Independent Christian Churches," claiming over 1.5 million members in the United States alone. Independent Christian Churches are among the fastest growing churches in the United States and combine their efforts at different times to support church planting organizations, cross-cultural missionaries, benevolent associations and over 30 Christian Colleges and Seminaries. Sunday Church is also a member of the Willow Creek Association, a national network of churches similar to Sunday Church in their beliefs and mission.
